We have three submissions open for artist claims. If you have sent me a story and I overlooked it, please message me and I'll fix that.

Fic 1:
Fandom: The Move RPF AU
Pairing: FtM!Bev Bevan/FtM!Ace Kefford/Carl Wayne
Title: Killing Yourself To Live
Rating: Mature/Explicit
Warnings: consensual underage sexual situations, childhood trauma and abuse, mental illness (depression, suicidal thoughts, paranoia, psychosis?), self-harming/self-injury, body dysphoria
Summary: Ace knew he was male from the time he could form thoughts, but the fight to live the way he wants comes at a heavy cost. When Bev lost his dad, it offered an opportunity to transition that he may not get again. They meet at the Pie Stand one night after a gig, neither are aware of how important their relationship will ultimately become as they fight to establish their place in the world.

Fic 2:
Fandom: Original
Pairing: Ivy/Gina
Title: Red
Rating: R
Warnings: murder, assault, violence, background attempts at genocide
Summary: Two women meet on a path in a dark wood, and feel an instant attraction. One is a shapeshifter and the other an ordinary girl; one knows her preferences and the other is surprised. Still, their attraction may lead to love-- if the huntsman doesn't get them first. A lesbian retelling of Little Red Riding Hood.

Fic 3:
Fandom: Leverage
Pairing: Nate/Sophie/Eliot
Title: Undesirable Desires
Rating: NC-17 (explicit)
Warnings: Compulsive sexual behaviors, discussion of past sex work, active alcoholism
Summary: Nate's fetish has always been his most closely guarded secret. But when Sophie discovers that something is very wrong with their sex lives, Nate must face his fears or lose his relationships. Nate struggles to trust Eliot with the same-sex desires and deviant, compulsive behaviors that the Church could never condone.

Artists: Please message boundsofdecency to claim your works. Here's some of the info from the FAQ about claims:

Can I claim more than one fic for art?
Yes, but you need to finish your first claim before you can claim the second.

Can more than one artist claim the same fic?
Yes, but only once every fic has already been claimed once.

If I'm already writing a story, can I also create art? Can I do more than one art submission?
Absolutely, as long as you're not claiming your own story. Multiple art submissions cannot be for the same fic and you can only do one at a time. So, if you claimed fic 21 for a mix, you need to finish that mix before you can claim fic 16 for art.

If I've made my own art/soundtrack for my story, can I include it?
Absolutely. Your fic or podfic can be accompanied by as much of your own art in as many styles as you like.

How do I contact the mod?

Yikes, it would help if I gave you all the info for submissions! I'm sorry things have been so scrambled this month; the unexpected trip made things more hectic than I'd like.

Please send your rough drafts to my gmail account, boundsofdecency. If you have any trouble doing so, please message me here. The info I'll need for artist claims is:

Title (if you have one)

Since not everyone will see this right away, I'll accept stuff up to September 1, which pushes all deadlines for the big bang back one month.

September 1 - Authors' rough drafts due
September 3 - Artists' claims open
September 10 - Artists' second round of claims
October 1 - Authors' final work due/Artists' rough drafts due
October 15 - Artists' final art due
October 15-30 - Posting dates

Thanks for bearing with me! Let's get some submissions in so we can keep this big bang alive!
Has your muse been helping you out with your story? Are there snags that others here might be able to help with? Do you want to share something random? Here's another social post for whatever's on your mind.

I want to apologize very much to everyone for my absence. I neglected to notice the deadline for rough drafts in May and I'm also late in announcing the cut-off for signups. This isn't like me. And what's worse, I'm going to be out of town and away from Internet access for three weeks beginning tomorrow.

Okay, so let's get back on track here. Since I hadn't sent out notice that drafts were due, I'm going to extend that deadline in hopes that we'll get more participation. Rough drafts are due on Saturday, August 23, which is when I'll begin responding to them.

The other deadlines will similarly be extended so that things work out as they were meant to. I don't want things to be less manageable for you guys on account of my mistakes.

If you have questions that I can't address during that period, I'll do whatever I can to find a good solution when I come back. The important part is that this challenge inspires stories, art, and other goodies to get done.

tl;dr: Again, I apologize and I'm ready to get things going with the big bang. The deadline for the rough draft is August 23. Let's get some fiction and other goodies created!
So, there's the Camp NaNo going on this month and I'm using it to write for the big bang. And well, I was already speaking of it on Tumblr and my personal journal so I'll do the same here as well since, you know, it's for the comm.

So, the growing beast (it's over 6,000 words right now and seeing where it's heading, I think it should be somewhere in the 40,000 words) is called Chaoskampf. It's a Supernatural/Mass Effect/Doctor Who crossover. I don't have a summary yet, but it involves some timey-wimey things and cracks in the universe, and a conflict that'll involve lots of actions. Which isn't surprising seeing that the three canon stories revolve around saving the world/galaxy/universe (and yeah, I'm sure you totally know where this is heading).

Now, I'm used to write that kind of think and I'm used to write queer characters too, but the real challenge for me will be to focus as much as that part of their identity as on the plot.

Anyway, here a quite long snippet of the fic.

Since I've invited everyone to advertise Queer Big Bang in other comms, I'd like to return the favor for comms and such that wish to be advertised.

Let's keep it to comms and sites that are related to what we're doing here -- queer, fandom, fanworks, writing, art, etc.

Feel free to start a new post, and please tag it *advertisements so that everyone here can filter them out of their friends pages if they like. And also, I've heard of sites that would rather not be advertised, so please respect the owners' wishes.

Here's an image you can use if you'd like to advertise Queer Big Bang.

Artists, if you'd like to make some advertisements, I'd love to have more options available.

If you advertise in a community, please let me know so I can thank them for posting it.

For LiveJournal and Dreamwidth, you can copy-paste the following block of text into a post and the image will appear:

<a href="http://queer-bigbang.livejournal.com"><img src="http://i.imgur.com/vPQ9cIg.png" alt="Queer Big Bang, a big bang challenge for all fandoms and original fiction settings focusing on non-heterosexual and-or non-cisgender characters. Round three sign-ups for authors and artists open through July 31. Authors' challenges are to write or record at least ten thousand words of fiction; proposals for other large projects are welcome."/></a>

How's your fic going so far? Do you have a snippet you want to share? Are your characters deciding they don't feel like following your plot?

I'd love it if this could turn into more of a social forum where we can share the frustrations and joys of turning a few scattered ideas into an epic work of fiction. So, please post whatever you like about the process of putting together your story.

Our layout design is courtesy of layout_lounge. Check them out!

I also want to give credit to this tutorial for instructions on creating the "Queer Big Bang" logo.
If you're an artist who'd like to create an image to advertise Queer Big Bang's round 3, please let me know!

The more artists and images, the merrier. All images must be safe for general audiences.

Large banners should advertise the following:

Queer Big Bang - Round 3
Sign-ups open through July 31, 2014

Smaller banners can have just the name of the comm and any sort of mention that the round is open.

If you want to put the date in a different format (31 July, etc.) have at it.

The images will be posted to this page for our wonderful members to scatter across the 'net as they see fit.
